                                                      The City Manager and Utilities Director attended the (SEPA) April 23 public hearing 

The City Manager and Utilities Director attended the Southeastern Power Administration (SEPA) April 23 public hearing on the proposed 70 to 82% rate increase.  The public hearing was well attended with all of the affected cities and 12 counties in attendance.  Provocative and probing questioning from your representatives and the other communities appeared to have the three SEPA representatives reflecting on the underlying assumptions for the rate increase.  To many of the questions asked, the representatives said that they would get back with us with a written response.  The oral and written questions are attached.

All of SEPA Preference Customers will meet in Tallahassee on May 8 to review the transcript of the public hearing, any SEPA written responses, reports and analysis from the Preference Customer’s consultants, Talquin’s consultants and Quincy’s consultant. Following the meeting, the group will hopefully, if all interests are aligned filed a consolidated final written response on June 9 opposing the rate hike with the Federal Regulatory Commission. 

The Preference Customers are City of Quincy, City of Chattahoochee, Talquin Electric Cooperative, Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative, and Central Florida Electric Cooperative.
