THE CITY OF QUINCY TROPICAL STORM IDALIA UPDATE
Quincy, FL – Tropical Storm Idalia continues to grow in strength and is expected to reach major hurricane status as it moves toward Florida. This morning, Governor DeSantis updated his original executive order from Saturday, expanding the number of counties included from 33 to 46, Gadsden County is still under a state of emergency declaration.

Now through September 8, several stores in our area are preparing for the sales tax holiday, with copious quantities of batteries, flashlights, gas cans, and non-perishable items.

Idalia is slated to become a category 3 hurricane by the time it makes landfall on Wednesday,

The City of Quincy continues monitoring weather updates and encourages residents to do what they can to protect their homes ahead of the storm.

Sandbags are available at Wards Lot and the corner of Flagler and Virginia Street.

Currently, the staff is preparing for the impacts we could see from Idalia and is not taking any chances when it comes to safeguarding our community.

We are encouraging citizens to secure in and around their homes as we expect intense winds.

Parents are reminded that curfew hours for minors are in effect.
